Last night, the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies hosted a new student art exhibit titled “Creative Community” in the Anderson-Clarke Center. Students, staff and instructors gathered to celebrate the opening of this exhibit, which highlights work from studio art and photography students at all levels who have taken a course at the Glasscock School in 2014. It was installed on Monday, April 6 and is the second installation in the Peter T. Brown Gallery.

Our student artists are inextricably linked with the outstanding instructors who serve as their mentors.

During the reception, the Glasscock School also celebrated its studio art and photography instructors, whose artwork was installed in January and is featured on the second floor in the “The Art of Education” exhibit. The idea for this exhibit stemmed from a discussion in the recently formed Glasscock School Art Committee and its mission is to inspire new and returning students to seek their creative side. “These exhibits reflect the welcoming environment the Glasscock School provides for creative learners at any stage in their lifelong learning path,” said Maris. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there’s a creative class for you to explore this fall. Registration opens in July. Visit glasscock.rice.edu for more information.
