College Readiness Summit Program Director Sonya Ramirez welcomes participants to the College Readiness Summit.

On December 2, we had the wonderful opportunity to host more than 150 educators from the Houston area at the Center for College Readiness’ annual College Readiness Summit, a one-day conference designed to build awareness within the education community about the essential skills needed to prepare students to be successful in college. Participants obtained valuable information on closing equity and achievement gaps and what it means for students to be college-ready. Our 2014 topics included project-based learning, college readiness in middle school, the redesigned SAT and PSAT, a college admissions panel discussion, financial aid topics, among others. We were also privileged to hear a keynote address from ABC reporter, Art Rascon.
