This online course is designed to help AP World History students prepare for their AP exams.
Facilitated by AP World History master teachers, this short course will assist your preparation by providing a review of often misunderstood content and test-taking skills and strategies. By the end of this course, students will:
increase familiarity with targeted historical information.
increase recognition of skills necessary to write well and think historically.
apply strategies and techniques learned in this course to the AP Exam.
The 2019 AP World History test date is Thursday, May 16, 2019. Students will have an opportunity to interact with a master teacher to ask questions and clarify their understanding of the material in an optional online live, synchronous session held Wednesday, May 15, 2019.
James Sabathne (MA, NBCT) teaches AP U.S. History and AP World History at Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois. He has served as an AP U.S. History reader, table leader, and exam leader since 2001 and most reently worked as the Co-Chair of the AP U.S. History Test Development Committee. He presented at numerous conferences including AP annual meetings, the American Historical Association annual meeting, Best Practices Night at the AP US reading, and the Organization of American Historians Conference. His publications include: Past Forward: Articles from the Journal of American History Volumes I and II, (Oxford University Press, 2016); Course Planning and Pacing Guide resource for Eric Foner’s Give Me Liberty 3rd Edition, (WW Norton, 2014); Strive For A 5: Preparing for the AP* World History Exam, (Bedford / St. Martin’s, 2013); and is a contributor to Robert Strayer and Eric Nelson’s Ways of the World: A Global History with Sources, 3rd Ed, (Bedford / St. Martin’s, 2016).

This course offers an optional online live, synchronous question and answer session. This session will occur Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 7-8:30 p.m. Central time.
This course utilizes the Canvas platform and includes the use of high-quality videos and a synchronous session in Blackboard Collaborate. For maximum performance, we recommend these system requirements for the Canvas platform. Additionally, the synchronous sessions in Blackboard Collaborate require a headset with a microphone. This course is designed as a supplemental review for students preparing for their AP exams. It is not intended to be taken in lieu of an AP course.
