APSI: AP Calculus BC for New and Experienced Teachers, Week 2

This course is designed to meet the needs of AP Calculus BC teachers who are familiar with the teaching of AP Calculus AB and who are new or experienced in the teaching of AP Calculus BC.

Participants will be provided with classroom materials including teaching notes, discovery lessons using the graphing calculator, worksheets and AP practice problems.  Participants will learn how to fit AP Calculus BC topics into the curriculum and how to review for the AP exam. They will also review new insights gained from the 2017 AP Reading and from the recently released AP Calculus Multiple Choice Tests.

Nancy Stephenson recently retired after teaching high school mathematics for forty-five years.  She most recently taught AP Calculus AB and BC at St. Thomas High School in Houston. She is a College Board consultant who has presented at numerous College Board one-day and two-day conferences and has led AP summer institutes at Rice University, Texas A&M University, the University of Houston, the Colorado Education Initiative, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Southern Methodist University, and Fairfax County Public Schools in Fairfax, Virginia, as well as for the National Math and Science Initiative. Ms. Stephenson has been a Reader, Table Leader and Question Team Member for the AP Calculus exam for many years. She is also a former member of the AP Calculus Development Committee. She received the Siemens Award for outstanding teaching of an AP course in 2001. Ms. Stephenson holds a BS in education from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and an MS in mathematics from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
