This course is for new and experienced teachers. Some content differentiation for the new and experienced groups will be provided.
Knowledge of Java is strongly preferred, but understanding of another programming language (loops, arrays, functions) can work. This course will provide hands-on experience with opportunities to apply concepts. Pedagogical approaches, recruiting, sharing ideas, and the exam will also be discussed.
Kyle Gillette has taught computer science and mathematics for 28 years, the last 17 in Colorado’s Jefferson County Public Schools. He attended Austin College '81 - '86 and received a BA in mathematics and English and an MA in secondary education. He attended the University of Texas at Dallas from 1986 - 1990 pursuing an MS in computer science. Mr. Gillette is a current faculty consultant for the College Board (since 2002) and has been an AP Computer Science exam reader in the past.
