This AP Psychology course is intended for veteran AP Psychology teachers.
This course will include an update and overview of the entire College Board curriculum, the newest areas of emphasis noted by the College Board, and many “Best Practices” that make even the hardest units fun for students. Course members will participate in hands-on activities through a variety of mini-lessons. Topics will be drawn from the College Board Acorn book with particular focus on changes in content requirements, strategies for multiple-choice questions and skills for successful writing of free-responses as required on the AP Psychology Exam. Building and recruiting for an AP elective will also be discussed.
Jill Compher is currently teaching AP Psychology in her 18th year in public education, and her third year at Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, TX with previous experience at Northwest ISD. She is nationally certified consultant in AP Psychology for the College Board and is a contributor to the AP Psychology Course Overview. Jill has been an AP Reader since 2005 and consultant since 2015, presenting at universities and school districts in Texas, Louisiana, West Virginia, Nevada, Southern Florida, Arkansas, California and Southern China.
She is the chair of Texas Teachers of Psychology in charge of organizing the regional conference for the networking of local psychology teachers. She was a semifinalist in 2010 for the O'Donnell Texas AP Teacher Award, Teacher Award winner of the Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering Fair Division 1 in 2012, fair official for Intel ISEF 2012 Fair Official -Fort Worth Region, and earned the Distinguished Educator award at Northwest ISD from 2003-2014.
