This summer institute is designed to familiarize newer AP teachers with the AP Spanish Language & Culture Course and Exam.
The workshop will provide sample units, lessons and materials relating to the 6 AP Language Thematic Units. Participants will learn and practice how the exam is scored. They will also leave with a plethora of ideas and strategies to successfully teach the course. Teachers will be encouraged to participate and share best practices with the entire group on a daily basis.
Brian Scott has a BA & MA in Spanish Language & Literature from Northern Illinois University. He has taught all levels but currently teaches Spanish 3 and AP Spanish Language & Culture at Huntley High School in Huntley, IL. This is his 13th year teaching AP Spanish Language & Culture.
He has recently presented at the 2017 Central States Language Conference, the College Board AP 2014 Annual Conference, the 2014 ACTFL National Convention with Ken Stewart, and the 2013 AP Reading for Spanish Language & Culture.
He is the author of one of four Course Planning & Pacing Guides that is published on the AP Central website for Spanish Language & Culture. He has been attending the AP Reading for Spanish Language & Culture for nine years. The first two were as an AP Reader and since then has been a Table Leader. He was a contributor/reviewer for Vista Higher Learning’s AP Spanish Temas textbook and their AP Spanish Language & Culture Exam workbook.
