APSI: AP Spanish Language and Culture for New Teachers, Week 3

The objective of this AP Spanish Language and Culture institute will be on the format and content of the latest AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam.

This workshop will consist of a thorough overview of the current exam including and not limited to the 6 themes and essential learning skills for a successful AP program. This is an activity-based approach that will provide participants with useful strategies and activities for not only developing but maintaining a successful AP program. In addition, participants will learn to holistically assess student competencies in the target language as well as examine student performance. Participants will learn strategies to incorporate literary works from the AP Spanish literature exam as a means to improve interpretive/reading mode.

Alma L. González has been teaching in the public schools for over 30 years. Served as Department Head of the Foreign Language Department for 18 years. Has served as a Spanish AP Reader for 9 years and has served as a Table Leader as well. She has experience in teaching Spanish Language AP and Spanish Literature AP.  She has been an adjunct professor and University of Texas-Brownsville for 10 years and at Gladys Porter High School in Brownsville, TX. For 28 years. This will be her 12th year as a consultant for College Board.  Currently works with the University of Texas Rio Grande as a part time lecturer for the department of education.
