Developed for teachers interested in acquiring content and strategies for teaching advanced courses, these seminars will be facilitated by a master teacher and will provide a forum for the exploration and discussion of course content, best practices and instructional strategies.
Barbara Watson began her career teaching at an international school in the Caribbean. She has taught all levels of physics including AP Physics B, 1, 2, & C both Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism in the public schools for the last twenty-seven years. She serves as both an AP Physics Reader and College Board Consultant for all levels of AP Physics. She has presented at many AP Annual Conferences, most recently July 2016 in Anaheim, California. She has piloted labs for the College Board in both AP Physics 1 and 2. Her earliest positions were at the Carol Morgan School in the Dominican Republic and in the
Fairfax County School District in northern Virginia. For the last sixteen years she has taught AP Physics at J.J. Pearce High School in the north Dallas suburb of Richardson, Texas. Barbara has just concluded a stint as the AP Science Lead for the Richardson Independent School District. In that capacity she lead training and vertical team events for Pre-AP and AP Science teachers, and plans and implements district-wide student study sessions for AP Science Exams. Her passion is inclusiveness in the AP Program, and she is always working at the national, district and classroom levels to have the diversity of the community reflected in the AP classroom. Her great joy by far is to teach the wonder of physics daily to students!
Barbara resides in Richardson, Texas with her husband and three children.
