Category 1 workshops are designed to provide training and assistance for schools that have decided to apply for IB authorization. They are equally relevant for educators who are new to a school with an existing IB programme and those interested in joining an IB World School.
This workshop will provide participants with an overview of the IB Diploma Programme and the counselor’s role within the program. Participants will obtain information needed to help them become effective IB counselors.

+ Challenges facing IB Schools
+ International Mindedness
+ IB Learner Profile
+ Four year curriculum planning
+ Role of the IB counselor
+ Supporting students academically, socially/emotionally, and with career/college preparation
+ IB and the college process
Kim Wilder is a school counselor for the IB MYP/DP at Poudre High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. She has been a workshop leader since 2010. She has experience working at an IB school in Costa Rica and prior to her position as a school counselor she worked in college admissions for two universities. She holds a B.A. in history and communications from Denison University and a M.Ed. in counseling from Colorado State University.
