Fall IB: Math SL and HL: A focus on internal assessment, Category 3

Category 3 workshops are designed to provide a forum for experienced IB educators to build on and enhance their professional development portfolios. Participants will engage in in-depth investigation into specific areas of interest and expertise.

The overall purpose of this workshop is to provide professional development and assistance for teachers of both higher level (HL) and standard level (SL) mathematics in the area of Internal Assessment (IA).

This workshop will focus on all of the details of the IA program for the HL and SL mathematics programs. Particular attention will be paid to the assessment criteria and ways to introduce, develop and manage the IA process in your classroom.

Since this training is a category 3 workshop, most participants should have several years of experience in either the HL and or SL IB mathematics programs, which will result in interesting discussions on the many issues related to IA work.

In addition to the IA work, participants will discuss some other areas of the IB mathematics program. One is the state of the curriculum review currently taking place and the plans being made for the new IB mathematics program that will be taught beginning in 2019 and examined for the first time in 2021.

Additionally, particpants will share best practice.
