Category 1 workshops are designed to provide training and assistance for schools that have decided to apply for IB authorization. They are equally relevant for educators who are new to a school with an existing IB programme and those interested in joining an IB World School.
Category 2 workshops are designed to provide a forum for experienced IB educators, focusing on programme delivery. Emphasis is placed on assessment, teaching and learning methodologies, and exploring best practices in the classroom.
In this workshop, teachers will be walked through the new syllabus with first exams in 2019. Teachers swill create lesson plans and practice working with new rubrics and question formats.
Topics will include the following:
+ Navigating the new guide
+ Planning lessons and pacing
+ Practice with new rubrics and a new assessment format
+ Using the ATLs through the course
+ Understanding the IA
+ Integrating CAS into lessons
+ Introducing students to psychology EE and forming credible research questions
+ Infusing internationalism and culture throughout the course
Jennie Jamison has 32 years of experience teaching IB Psychology and 9 years of teaching TOK. Jennie has been an examiner and workshop leader for over 20 years and has been involved in the last 4 curriculum reviews in various roles. Jennie has degrees from N. C. State (B.A. Political science) and Virginia Commonwealth University (M.Ed. Counseling & B. S. Teaching history and the social sciences). She is the author of 6 texts for IB Psychology and is a frequent responder on Facebook and the OCC. Jennie is an avid hiker in Florida and in the Blue Ridge Mountains, practices Tai Chi and yoga, and is a long-time volunteer with Big Cat Rescue in Tampa.
