This course covers the essentials of navigating basic financial aid applications, including the FAFSA and CSS Profile; as well as, pre-planning tools such as net price calculators and FAFSA4caster.
The course will equip college access counselors with an understanding of how to evaluate and interpret post-application financial aid award packages. This foundational knowledge will provide the resources necessary to guide students and families in understanding college affordability, reducing college cost, and personal financial literacy to maintain affordability.
Dr. Amy McClurd is responsible for the design and implementation of teacher professional development programs, including International Baccalaureate workshops, online professional development, Pre-AP workshops, and customized district trainings. She has taught middle school science and served as a team leader and department chair for Cy-Fair Independent School District. Ms. McClurd holds a B.A. in biology and studio arts from Sam Houston State University and an M.Ed. in educational administration from Prairie View A&M University. She is pursuing a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in instructional technology at the University of Houston. Her doctoral research is focused on IB online teacher professional development.
