Winter IB: Coordination, Category 2

Category 2 workshops are designed to provide a forum for experienced IB educators, focusing on programme delivery. Emphasis is placed on assessment, teaching and learning methodologies, and exploring best practices in the classroom.

In this workshop of the IB Diploma Programme coordination, novice and experienced DP coordinators will obtain information and share successful practices to help them become more effective coordinators. 

Topics will include:

+ Theoretical design of the IB Diploma Program by examining IB standards and practices
+ Practical requirements of successful IB Diploma programs
+ Arrangements of aligning courses to provide students with concurrency of learning
+ Incorporating the Diploma Core and Learner Profile throughout the Diploma Program
+ Accessibility in the Diploma Program
+ Improving the DP through program self-evaluation, online resources and other tools
+ The role(s) of the DP coordinator within their own local school contexts

Instructor: Brad Coltrane

Brad Coltrane is a DP coordinator and IB English teacher at Hoover High School in Hoover, Alabama. Mr. Coltrane is also a moderator for English: literature internal assessment, past president of IB Schools of Alabama, and a presenter at IB Americas Conferences in 2009, 2010 and 2012. He holds a BA in English, MA in secondary education, language arts, EdS in teacher leadership and National Board Certification in ELA, 2006, renewed 2016.
