Category 1 workshops are designed to provide training and assistance for schools that have decided to apply for IB authorization. They are equally relevant for educators and administrators who are new to a school with an existing IB programme and those interested in joining an IB World School. This workshop aims at providing overall guidance on the leadership implications of being or becoming a Head of School or a Coordinator in an IB World School.
Topics will include the following:
+ In depth discussion of the IB mission statement and the programme model
+ Analysis of the requirements of the programme as stated in the programme standards and practices
+ Step by step procedures to provide guidance for the MYP unit planner
+ Review of the assessment requirements and inquiry based learning
+ Discussion of the projects
Margaret (Peggy) Clavette is an IB Head of School, MYP and DP programmes, at École secondaire publique Gisèle-Lalonde in Ottawa Canada. She formerly taught MYP Mathematics, Individuals and Society, Language and Literature and was also MYP coordinator at the same school, prior to becoming Vice –Principal. She serves on the IB World School committee at the Conseil des école publiques de l’est de l’Ontario. She has conducted Category 1, 2 and 3 workshops, in English and French all over the United States and Canada, has done numerous site visits and assists candidate schools in preparing for the authorization process. Peggy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Moncton, a Bachelor of Education, primary, junior and intermediate levels, from the University of Ottawa and a master's degree in school leadership from the University of Ottawa.
Angela Hall-Hector is the coordinator for the IB Middle Years Programme at Eisenhower Ninth Grade School in Houston, Texas. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas International Baccalaureate Schools (TIBS) as a Middle Years Program Representative. She also works with the IB organization as a Building Quality Curriculum reviewer (BQC), School Site Team Member, and a Workshop Presenter. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
