Data Analytics Boot Camp

This innovative, part-time program will give you the technical skills needed to conduct robust data analytics on a host of real-world problems.

Rice University Data Analytics Boot Camp is a 24-week, part-time Data Analytics course offered on the Rice campus at the Anderson-Clarke Center. The curriculum includes Advanced Excel, Python, JavaScript (D3.js, Leaflet.js), HTML/CSS, API Interactions, Social Media Mining, SQL, Hadoop, Tableau, Advanced Statistics, Machine Learning, R, Git/GitHub, and more. The curriculum incorporates a blend of real-world projects, marketable hard skills, and behavioral and technical interview prep to prepare you to succeed on job interviews. Graduates will receive a certificate of completion from Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies and will have a portfolio of projects demonstrating a working knowledge of data analytics.

Rice University Data Analytics Boot Camp is a face-to-face part-time course offered on the Rice campus at the Anderson-Clarke Center.

Participants learn the fundamental and specialized skills necessary to land a job or advance in the booming field of data analytics, including Python, JavaScript, Advanced Excel, SQL Databases and more. Students receive a hands-on, classroom learning experience, conducting robust analytics on a host of real-world problems. The program offers access to a tutor network to get help both inside and outside the classroom.

Upon completion of the program, participants will have the ability to:

  • Employ statistical analysis to models, predict and forecast trends
  • Expertly build VBA scripts in Excel to automate tedious manual processes
  • Utilize real-world data sources to showcase social, financial and political phenomena
  • Create Python-based scripts to automate the cleanup, re-structuring, and rendering of large, heterogeneous datasets
  • Analyze social media trends on Twitter and Facebook using automated programs
  • Use advanced SQL and Mongo techniques to combine multiple datasets into one so as to create even more impressive and comprehensive databases

Participants will have access to a dedicated profile coach and career director to work with throughout the program to become employer competitive.

Scholarship

Rice University Data Analytics Boot Camp is a 24-week, Data Analytics course. It is part-time and designed for working professionals and students who are actively pursuing a career change or advancement or looking to gain a new skillset. The Course Report community is now eligible for a $500 scholarship to Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies.

Eligibility: Offer is only valid for new applicants to Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. Applicants who have already submitted an application cannot claim this scholarship. Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies does not allow stacking of scholarships or discounts. 

What are the dates of the program?

Class begins November 5, 2018. Classes meet Monday and Wednesdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Can I keep working while studying at Rice University Boot Camp?

Yes. The program is designed for working professionals who are actively seeking a career change.

How long is the course?

Students will complete the program in six months.

Do you provide career planning support?

Yes. We offer all of our students career support and coaching, including portfolio reviews, resume assistance, and technical interview training. In addition, we offer students experiential learning opportunities to strengthen their portfolio.

Do I need to have experience in programming or data analytics before applying?

No programming experience is required, however, it is recommended that you hold a Bachelor’s Degree or have at least two years of experience in business, management, finance, statistics, or a related field.
