  • 160 questions (90 knowledge/40 situational judgment/30 field test items)*

*Exam fee is not included in fee. It is a separate registration for the exam through SHRM. Exam applications will be accepted starting on January 3, 2017.

 

Debi Dault, SHRM-SCP, CRP, GPHR, - SHRM-SCP Instructor - is the director of business development for Kinetix International Logistics. She is active in the Society for Human Resource Management and serves as the international director for its Texas State Council. She serves on the executive committee and board of trustees for the Dallas Human Resource Management Association and is its current president. She is a frequent speaker on international human resources for both corporations and professional educational conferences. Ms. Dault holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth.

Billy Davis, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, - SHRM-CP Instructor - is southeast regional human resource manager for Crown Cork & Seal. He has nearly 30 years of experience in human resources, including labor and employee relations, compensation and benefits, diversity, workforce planning, training and development, organizational effectiveness consulting and change management. He has served as a board member for the Texas Business Group on Health and was a governor appointee, representing large business, to the Texas Health Care Information Council. He holds a B.S. in criminal justice and an M.A. in human resource management.

Ruthie Lee-Esene, SHRM-SCP, HRPM, SPHR, - SHRM-SCP Instructor - is a Corporate Director of Human Resources for The BTS Team, Inc. and Sirvist, LLC. She directs and provides leadership in HR strategy, best practices, policy and training. Ms. Esene’s expertise is in fostering strong HR platforms, building solid employee relations, and facilitating mediation and negotiation processes. She is proficient in multi-state staffing and talent acquisition having developed and implemented recruiting strategies that drive major hiring and performance initiatives. Ms. Esene’s proficiency in competitor analysis and cost efficiencies contribute to the organizations performance, where she effectively designs and administers benefits and compensation plans to aide in organizational effectiveness and drive key performance indicators. Ms. Esene holds a B.A. from University of Texas at Dallas and a M.S. in Human Resource Management from Houston Baptist University. As a certified human resource professional, she has taught and coached the SHRM Learning System at Prairie View A&M University and Lamar Institute of Technology.

Kathleen M. Fenninger, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR, - SHRM-CP and Essentials of HR Instructor - has more than 25 years of experience in human resources both as a generalist and an employment specialist, primarily in the energy and financial services industries in Houston and New York City. She has served as president of the Houston Human Resource Management Association and was awarded the Distinguished Professional in Human Resources award in 1998. Ms. Fenninger has been certification director for Area IV Board of Directors of the Society for Human Resource Management and was co-chair in 2001-2002 as well as founding board member of the newly chartered regional chapter of the Employment Management Association in Houston. She has been an instructor for the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies since 1996. Ms. Fenninger holds an M.B.A. in organizational behavior and marketing, an M.S. in education and a B.A. in English from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York, where she was an instructor for several years.

Joe Flores, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, - SHRM-CP Instructor - is a Director of Talent Acquisition at Service Corporation International, North America's leading provider of deathcare products and services, where he provides strategic operational leadership for corporate and sales recruiting programs. Mr. Flores holds a M.A. in history and a B.A. in special education from the University of Houston. He is an active member of SHRM, a Certified Personnel Consultant with more than 20 years employment management experience including sourcing and recruitment strategies, labor and employee relations and strategic workforce planning.

Denise Halaska, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, - SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP Instructor – is Vice President, Human Resources, Neuromodulation at LivaNova PLC and has more than 21 years of domestic and global experience in the oil/gas/drilling; industrial and medical gases; and medical devices industries. Ms. Halaska has worked in Supply Chain Management; Quality; and all aspects of Human Resources including human resources strategy implementation; talent acquisition; employee relations; talent development; coaching; total rewards; human resources information systems; expatriation and mobility; and policies/procedures. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston – Clear Lake.

Paula H. Harvey, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR -SHRM-CP/SCP Instructor, is the VP of Human Resources for Schulte Business Systems in Hockley, TX. She has worked in the retail, services, construction and manufacturing industries. Mrs. Harvey has 29 years’ experience as a Human Resources generalist. She earned her Bachelors of Business Administration in International Marketing and Operations Management from the University of Texas at Austin. She has also earned her MBA with a concentration in Human Resources Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Using her HR certifications and MBA she teaches several business related topics especially in Human Resources. She is an internationally recognized speaker on global and strategic business issues, and co-authored two books with other HR professionals. She is an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) having served as the SE Membership Advisory Council Representative (MAC), NCSHRM State Director/President and President of Union County HR Association and Charlotte Area SHRM. Currently she is a member of HR Houston and serves on the University Liaison committee. She was awarded the NCSHRM “HR Professional of the Year” and the York County SHRM HR Consultant of the Year awards.

Jim Kane, SHRM-SCP, SPHR - SHRM-SCP Instructor - is the director, Strategic HR Solutions for Synovos, where he provides strategic organizational leadership in learning and development and delivers HR solutions to the business. Synovos provides MRO and other integrated services to more than 200 clients across the country and worldwide. Prior to Synovos, Mr. Kane spent 21 years at Villanova University where he served as the director of Continuing Education, associate director, Human Resources and a long-time instructor for the SHRM Learning System. Mr. Kane also taught Essentials of Human Resources and directed Villanova University’s Human Resources certification programs. Mr. Kane has held HR leadership roles at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Aqua America, and AON and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s in human resources development at Villanova University. Mr. Kane is an active SHRM member in the Philadelphia area, and volunteers his time to assist those in transition find new opportunities.

Deborah Manning, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, - SHRM-SCP Instructor - is a senior leadership recruiter for the Seller Services Division for Amazon, the largest Internet-based retailer in the world. She works closely with corporate clients to provide a strategic approach of finding top talent for each organizational leader. Ms. Manning has a combined 22 years of corporate and executive search experience in talent acquisition processes. She has an additional 15 years of experience as a HR generalist and has worked in the energy, communications and banking industries. Ms Manning also worked for two of the largest hospitals in the Texas Medical Center and found strategic solutions for her clients in workforce planning, recruiting, employee relations, compensation and training development. She holds a B.S. in political science from Alcorn State University.

Kathy McBrayer, SHRM-SCP, M.Ed., SPHR, - SHRM-CP Instructor - is president and founder of TMP Consulting, a human capital consulting firm focused on HR issues that arise during major change initiatives. Ms. McBrayer has more than 20 years of corporate experience in business and human resources; she was most recently vice president of HR for Hewlett-Packard. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University and a master’s degree in education from Texas Woman’s University. Ms. McBrayer is in the dissertation phase of her doctoral studies in organization and management with a specialization in human resources.

Jill Silman Chapman, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, - SHRM-CP Instructor - is vice president of Insperity and has more than 20 years employment management experience. She currently holds a three-year appointment to the SHRM Staffing Management Special Expertise Panel. She is often quoted as a business expert in national and international media, including The Wall Street Journal, CBS Marketwatch, The European Wall Street Journal and Growth Magazine. She is a dually certified staffing professional, earning both the Certified Personnel Consultant and Certified Temporary Staffing Specialist designations. Ms. Silman Chapman holds an M.S. in Human Resource Management from Tarleton State University and a B.S. in journalism/public relations from The University of Texas at Austin.

Jennifer Warner, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, - SHRM-CP Instructor - has more than 20 years of human resources experience in the oil and gas industry with emphasis on organizational development, compensation and employee relations. She holds a B.S. in management science from the State University of New York at Geneseo and an MIRL in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University.

Online Course Required Equipment

Students in most professional development programs must have access to a computer and the Internet to complete the coursework required to earn the Certificate of Achievement.
