On Thursday, March 06, staff, trustees and leaders from nonprofits gathered at Rice for the Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership’s thirteenth annual Best Boards Conference. We were thrilled to present Houston native Robert W. Harvey, president and CEO of Greater Houston Partnership, as the keynote speaker. Mr. Harvey has long been active in the Houston business community, first with McKinsey & Company, Inc. for 17 years and then as vice chair/executive vice president at Reliant Energy. He currently serves on the Community Foundation Council of the Greater Houston Community Foundation and the boards of St. John’s School, the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Center for Houston’s Future, the Alliance For Kids, as well as the TRC Companies, Inc. and Board of Regents of Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. At Best Boards, Mr. Harvey engaged the audience with practical advice for nonprofit staff and board members.
Professionals from the nonprofit industry heard from several accomplished speakers and panels across topics including ethical board leadership, engaging millennials, current legal issues and more. Beyond the valuable takeaways related to their organizations, each year participants walk away with new connections and a broader network as a result of this conference.
Thanks to all of our speakers and attendees for another great event!
