Judy Radigan Ph.D., Director

Dr. Radigan spent more than 20 years teaching high school English, debate, speech, drama and ESL in Texas, and also served as an elementary school principal for five years. For the past ten years, Dr. Radigan has had joint appointments at Rice University and the University of Houston. She has been a lecturer in the Teacher Education Department at Rice University and the facilitator for the online Cultural Studies Program at the University of Houston. She has also served as an evaluator for the Even Start Programs in Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Angleton, and has worked as a researcher with the Center for Education at Rice University. Dr. Radigan oversees academic services, lecturer and faculty teaching assignments, academic programming, program evaluation, student recruitment, admissions and financial aid, student advising, and strategic planning.

Olga Trejo, Assistant Director

Ms. Trejo has supported the Rice Teacher Education and Master of Arts in Teaching programs since 1997. As assistant director, she manages the daily administrative and financial operations of the programs including administering new and existing education courses, serving as a liaison with national organizations, and building and maintaining relationships with faculty. Additionally, Ms. Trejo is responsible for program operations and budget management. She provides student support related to admissions, observation and student teaching placement, certification documentation, and assists with academic advising.

Sheila Whitford, MBA, Compliance Officer

Ms. Whitford is a retired educator from Furr High School in Houston ISD where she served as a literacy coach, School Improvement Facilitator, and English teacher. She holds a BA in English and history from Texas Women’s University and her MBA from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Sheila serves as faculty in the program and also works with the department on compliance, academic program changes, admissions, program evaluation, the development of innovative new courses, field supervision, and strategic planning.

Jennifer Gigliotti, Ed.D., Associate Dean

Dr. Gigliotti has taught secondary social studies in Fort Bend ISD and has spent many years designing innovative models of professional development for in-service teachers. Dr. Gigliotti provides leadership and support to the Teacher Education Program and works with team members on academic program changes, admissions and financial aid, student recruitment, program evaluation, program budgets and reporting, district relationship building, and strategic planning.
