Student Programs

The Center for College Readiness offers numerous college-preparatory opportunities for students to raise their awareness of the importance of college and to master the skills necessary for their post-secondary careers.

April 6, 2019

This event is aimed toward helping Houston-area students prepare for their AP exams. Students have the opportunity to attend up to two 90-minute review sessions. A college readiness session is available for students only needing one review session. The AP exam review will be led by experienced AP teachers in a variety of subjects and is held on the Rice University campus in Houston, Texas.

Schedule

Session 1: 9-10:30 a.m.
Session 2: 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

Note: Classroom size is limited and space cannot be guaranteed in particular subjects. Space is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. Most subjects will be offered twice to maximize availability.

Spring 2019

This online course is designed to help students prepare for their AP exams. The AP exam review course will be led by experienced AP teachers in a variety of subjects.

Note: This course is designed as a supplemental review for students preparing for their AP exams. It is not intended to be taken in lieu of an AP course.

asynchronous modules along with a live, online question and answer session with the master teacher prior to the AP exam

This course utilizes the Canvas platform and includes the use of high-quality videos and a synchronous session in Blackboard Collaborate. For maximum performance, we recommend these system requirements for the Canvas platform. Additionally, the synchronous sessions in Blackboard Collaborate require a headset with a microphone. January 24, 2019

Destination College is a one-day program for 10th and 11th graders that will include discussions and presentations on the importance of college, the skills and content required for college success, admissions, and financial aid information, and a campus tour. The Center for College Readiness will host the program at the Anderson-Clarke Center on Thursday, January 24, 2019.
