BIOGRAPHY

Courtney Tardy joined the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies as the Director of Development in December, 2018. As the Director of Development, she promotes the fundraising and engagement priorities of the Dean of the Glasscock School through a focus on individual donor solicitations, as well as pursuing funding for the Glasscock School through the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations, and the larger Rice community. 

Prior to joining the Glasscock School, Courtney served for four years as Associate Director, Fundraising, at the Rice Design Alliance (RDA), the public outreach arm of Rice Architecture. At Rice Design Alliance, she oversaw the corporate and individual membership programs, the annual gala, and worked with the traveling program. Similar to the Glasscock School, RDA’s community blends both Rice and Houston. 

Before joining Rice University, Courtney worked for several years in the field of historic preservation and architectural history for Preservation Houston. She served as the Director of Historic Neighborhoods, and was responsible for much of the field work and research that comprises many of the existing local historic districts, including Starkweather in Independence Heights, and numerous landmarks in River Oaks and other historic areas of Houston. Much of this work included building trust and relationships between different constituencies. 

Courtney earned a B.A. in History from the University of the South (Sewanee), and a Masters in Architectural History and Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Virginia. She worked in the Development offices of both universities while a student.
