Jessica Vasan
BIOGRAPHY

Jessica has served as an educator since 1999. Her school-based roles have included bilingual elementary teacher in Houston ISD, assistant principal in Washington, D.C., and a charter school director of bilingual and ESL programs, where she was an instructor for the Texas Reading Academies. Jessica also brings nonprofit leadership experience as an assessment and professional development manager at the Center for Applied Linguistics and a project director with TNTP. She served as the first manager for HISD’s education research partnership with Rice University’s HERC, and most recently led the launch of Rice Education’s alternative teacher certification program in Early Childhood through Grade 3 (EC-3).

Jessica holds a BA in English and Spanish from Wake Forest University, as well as a Masters in Education from Harvard University and a Master of Science in Administration from Trinity Washington University.
