The Spring IB workshops at Rice are designed for new and experienced IB teachers at the PYP, MYP, and DP levels who are interested in learning about the IB program and strategies and techniques for effectively teaching IB curriculum. Workshops are led by experienced IB workshop leaders who have a strong background in teaching and an interest in developing the IB teacher community through rigorous professional development.
Since 2006, the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies has been offering online courses designed to meet the needs of busy professionals around the world. Our experienced Online Learning support team will be providing student support services, as needed, to all Spring IB Workshops participants.
When: All workshops will be hosted from Thursday, February 11th to Saturday, February 13th, online utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System and Blackboard Collaborate. Please see the breakdown of the daily course schedule (all times are based on Central Time (CT):
Thursday: 4.0 hours synchronous learning to be held between 8:00 AM-3:00 PM Central Time (CT) with an additional 2 hours of asynchronous learning required (total 6 hours)
Friday: 4.0 hours of synchronous learning to be held between 8:00 AM-3:00 PM CT with an additional 1 hours of asynchronous learning required (total 5 hours)
Saturday: 4.0 hours of synchronous learning to be held between 8:30 AM-2:30 PM CT (no asynchronous required)
The sum total of 15 hours online professional development will include 12 hours of synchronous and 3 hours of asynchronous learning.
Where: All courses are being held online utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System and Blackboard Collaborate.
Prior to registering, please review the IB Workshops and Resources catalog to determine which category best meets your needs. Additionally, certain information provided during registration will be sent to the IB Organization.
Continuing Education Credits: Participants will receive up to 15 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits or 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU). Attendance is taken each morning and afternoon. The hours on your certificate will reflect your actual hours of attendance. Participants are responsible for signing the attendance sheet each day. Note: The Rice University IB Workshops are not approved by TAGT for GT hours, but some districts will allow a limited number of hours to be applied for update hours. Please contact your district for specifics.
