Staff Profiles

Brief bios of the the Center for College Readiness staff.

Jennifer Gigliotti, EdD, Senior Associate Dean for Education and Academic Initiatives of the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies

Dr. Gigliotti is responsible for the design of innovative professional development models for teachers, including Advanced Placement workshops, online professional development, college and career counseling workshops, and customized district trainings. She is the co-author on a college readiness grant collaboration with the AVID organization and 13 Houston-area school districts, sponsored by the Houston Endowment. Jennifer has extensive experience writing curriculum and previously taught secondary social studies in Fort Bend Independent School District. She holds an EdD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston as well as an MEd in secondary social studies education and a BA from The Ohio State University.

Amy McClurd, EdD, Director

Dr. McClurd is responsible for the design and implementation of teacher professional development programs, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Year, Middle Year and Diploma Programme workshops, online professional development for counselors and high school students, Pre-AP workshops for middle school teachers, and customized district trainings. She previously taught middle school science and has served as a team leader and department chair for Cy-Fair Independent School District. Amy holds an EdD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston as well as a MEd in educational administration from Prairie View A&M University and a BA in biology and studio arts from Sam Houston State University.

Shannon Raffetto, Associate Director

Ms. Raffetto is responsible for the direction and coordination of the center’s Advanced Placement professional development and student enrichment programs. Her past experience includes program and event coordination for the Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Rice University, admissions at San Jacinto College and student success and retention at the University of Houston. She has also served as writer, editor and designer for the Schumacher Foundation. She holds a B.S. in political science and anthropology from the University of Houston.

Denna Brooks, Program Coordinator

Ms. Brooks provides administrative support for the center's professional development and student enrichment programs, as well as the GSCS eLearning Department. Her most recent experience includes working at Ingleside ISD in their Technology Department with K-12 educators on their 1:1 mobile device implementation program. She also has more than 20 years of experience working in diverse industries, including aeronautics, digital marketing and commercial real estate.
