Our Commitment

Rice University is committed to keeping the costs of the Master of Interdisciplinary Studies program as low as possible. The MIS tuition has been significantly reduced to make high-quality, multidisciplinary graduate education accessible to a wider audience.* Financial aid and program scholarships are available for qualifying students. Each student receives a campus ID, a Rice e-mail account, Fondren Library privileges, access to the Rice Recreation Center and representation in the Rice University Graduate Student Association (GSA).

Tuition Assistance

Students in the Master of Interdisciplinary Studies program may be eligible to receive federal student loans, Grad PLUS loans and private loans. The enrollment requirement for eligibility is at least half-time or 4.5 hours. Visit for Rice University's Office of Financial Aid for more information.

The MIS program offers limited scholarships to current students who demonstrate financial need. These scholarships are 100% supported by MIS alumni. The MIS program is also actively seeking individuals or corporations to underwrite scholarship funds that help worthy students pursue their degree.
